Dayānand(a) Sarasvatī
Dayānand(a) Sarasvatī (1824–83). Mul Shankara, founder of the neo-orthodox Hindu movement, Ārya Samāj. After a long period as a wandering yogi, he settled in 1860 in Mathura, studying with the Vedic scholar, Virajananda. Under his influence, Dayānand rejected the accretions of post-Vedic Hinduism and started a public campaign for a return to Vedic values.
