Løland, Rasmus
Rasmus Løland (räs´mŏŏs lö´län), 1861–1907, Norwegian novelist. Løland, who suffered from poor health throughout his life, produced numerous works after a late start as a writer. His autobiographical novel Aasmund Arak (1902) describes the anguish of an individual at odds with the rural society in which he lives. In Barnebøker [children's books] (3 vol., 1923–25), considered his finest work, he shows remarkable insight into the world of children.
