Louis Marie Stanislas Fréron (lwē märē´ stänēsläs´ frārôN´), 1754–1802, French revolutionary; son of Élie Fréron. After the outbreak (1789) of the French Revolution, he founded a radical journal, Orateur du peuple. Fréron was a member of the Convention, took part in the Reign of Terror, and helped to bring about the downfall of Maximilien Robespierre in the Thermidorian reaction (July, 1794), of which he was a leader. He died as a member of the French expedition to Haiti.
