Brin, Sergey Mikhaylovich
Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin, 1973–, American business executive and computer scientist, b. Moscow, grad. Univ. of Maryland (B.S., 1993) and Stanford (M.S., 1995). His family immigrated to the United States in 1979. As a doctoral student at Stanford, he met Larry Page, with whom he cofounded Google, originally an Internet seach company, in 1998. They were co-presidents from 1998 to 2001, when they hired Eric Schmidt as chairman and CEO. Brin then served as president of technology (2001–11) and now directs special projects, including the Google Glass wearable computer and the Google driverless car.
