RAKAH (New Communist List)
(Reshimah Kommunistit Hadashah in Hebrew): Israeli Arab communist party, formed in 1964 as an alternative to the overwhelmingly Jewish MAKI, which split over the issue of Arab nationalism. In the 1973 election the two communist parties, RAKAH and MAKI, ran together as Moked; but since then only RAKAH has borne the name "communist."
