MASORTI (Conservative, in Hebrew)
Traditionalist Jew who is neither Orthodox nor secular and who observes some of the religious commandments for familial, social, or sentimental reasons. This word also designates one of the currents of liberal Judaism, which advocates respect for the halakhah while being in favor of adaptability to modern life. The Masorti Movement in Israel is affiliated with Masorti Olami (the World Council of Masorti/Conservative Synagogues) as well as with the international association of Conservative rabbis and other organizations representing Conservative Judaism throughout the world.
