Di Stefano, Giuseppe

Di Stefano, Giuseppe (b Motta Santa Anastasia, nr. Catania, 1921). It. tenor. Début 1946 Reggio Emilia as Des Grieux in Manon. La Scala début 1947; NY Met 1948–65; S. Francisco 1950; Brit. début Edinburgh Fest. 1957; CG 1961. Sang often with Callas, making recordings with her, and partnering her on her 1973–4 concert tour.
