pas·to·rale / ˌpastəˈräl; -ˈral/ • n. (pl. -rales or -ra·li / -ˈrälē/ ) 1. a slow instrumental composition in compound time, usually with drone notes in the bass. 2. a simple musical play with a rural subject.
