The Court Martial Appeal Court was established in 1959 by an amendment to The National Defence Act. It succeeds the Court Martial Appeal Board. Decisions of the Court Martial Appeal Court can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada.

La Cour d'appel de la Cour martiale du Canada était établie en 1959 par un amendement à la Loi de la Défense nationale. Elle succède à la Commission d'appel des Cours martiales. On peut se pourvoir en cassation une décision de la Cour.

Judges and Registry

Juges et Registraire

The judges of the Court consist of not fewer than four judges of the Federal Court of Canada and such additional judges of a superior court of criminal jurisdiction as are appointed by the Governor-in-Council. The Chief Justice is one of the judges of the Court Martial Appeal Court, and is designated by the Governor-in-Council. The Registry of the Federal Court is ex officio the Registry of the Court Martial Appeal Court.

La Cour consiste de pas moins que quatre juges de la Cour fédérale du Canada et des juges additionnels d'une Cour supérieure de juridiction criminelle nommés par le Gouverneur en conseil. Le Juge en chef est un des juges de la Cour d'appel de la Cour martiale et est désigné par le Gouverneur en conseil. Le registraire de la Cour fédérale est ex officio le registraire de la Cour d'appel de la Cour martiale.
