Traveller ★★★ 1996 (R)

Deriving its name from the reallife group of wily Irish-American con men who prowl the Southeast, this view into the lives and clannish ways of its members may have you checking that brandspankin' new driveway sealant. Their basic philosophy is: if you're not one of us, we're allowed to take all of your money. Bokky (Paxton) is the jackofalltricks who takes the younger Pat (Wahlberg) under his wing after the boy is shunned by the rest of the group. Pat's father married outside the clan, and that's not allowed. Bokky falls into the same trap, however, when a beautiful bartender (Margulies), who he has just fleeced, steals his heart. Rather violent ending dims the good feeling that builds and may leave you feeling…well, cheated. Directorial debut of longtime Clint Eastwood cinematographer Jack Green, who also shot “Twister” with Paxton. 100m/C VHS, DVD . Bill Paxton, Mark Wahlberg, Julianna Margulies, James Gammon, Luke Askew, Michael Shaner, Nikki Deloach, Danielle Wiener; D: Jack N. Green; W: Jim McGlynn; C: Jack N. Green; M: Andy Paley.
