llanos
llanos The savannah grasslands of the Orinoco basin of Venezuela. Some authorities have suggested that the paucity of trees is owing to the impermeable subsoil of the region, which produces very wet conditions during the rainy season. It is likely, however, that fire and grazing are also responsible for preventing the development of woodland.
