Ealing Studios British film studios founded in 1929. Ealing produced a series of classic British comedies, such as Passport to Pimlico (1949), The Lavender Hill Mob (1951), and The Ladykillers (1955). Original screenplays, and a nucleus of actors led by Alec Guinness, assured their success. The studios sold in 1952, and went into receivership in 1994. The BBC bought them and they now belong to the National Film and Television School.
