‘Unlearned’ Parliament
‘Unlearned’ Parliament, 1404. This nickname was given to the Parliament summoned by Henry IV in 1404 to meet at Coventry, after the king ordered that no lawyers should be returned, since they concentrated too much on their own professional business. The instructions were resented and the rebels of 1405 demanded a free Parliament.
