Elmham, diocese of. The see of Elmham, conterminous with Norfolk, was created c.673 by Theodore's division of the East Anglian bishopric of Dunwich. The Danish invasions caused an interregnum, but Elmham revived to have oversight of both Norfolk and Suffolk. The see was moved to Thetford in 1072 and soon afterwards to Norwich.
