Curragh mutiny. In March 1914 57 officers of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade, stationed at Curragh near Dublin, informed the commander-in-chief that they would accept dismissal rather than undertake operations against Ulstermen to impose the Irish Home Rule Bill. They succeeded in obtaining a written assurance from the chief of staff that they would not be expected to do this.
