Aberconwy, peace of, 1277. This treaty, which brought to a conclusion the war between Llywelyn ap Gruffydd and Edward I, marked the beginning of the end of Llywelyn's considerable ambitions. His rule was confined to ‘Lesser’ Gwynedd, west of the Conwy, and five years later he was killed near Builth in a new rising.
