Lotharingia

Lotharingia Part of Charlemagne's empire inherited by his descendant Lothair II, after whom it is named. Roughly, Lotharingia included modern Lorraine (whose name is itself a corruption of Lotharingia), Alsace, nw Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
