Lamb, Willis Eugene, Jr
Lamb, Willis Eugene, Jr (1913– ) US physicist who applied new techniques to measure the lines of the hydrogen spectrum. He found that the actual positions (wavelengths) varied from the positions predicted by Dirac's theory. For this research, he shared the 1955 Nobel Prize in physics.
