Cantona, Eric
Cantona, Eric (1966– ) French football player. Cantona began his career playing for Auxerre (1980–88). In 1992 he moved to Leeds United and, after helping them win the league, transferred to Manchester United (1993). Three further championship medals followed. Controversy plagues his career: he missed much of the 1994–95 season after fly-kicking an abusive fan. In 1996 his self-discipline earned him the English Player of the Year award.
