Brooks, Louise
Brooks, Louise (1906–85) Legendary US film actress. Brooks achieved the majority of her success in Germany under the direction of G. W. Pabst in his Diary of a Lost Girl (1929), and as Lulu in Pandora's Box (1929). She was never able to recapture this early brilliance, and retired in 1938.
