Original name, Terrence (Terry) Gene Bollea; born August 11, 1953, in Augusta, GA (some sources cite Tampa, FL); son of Peter (a construction foreman) and Ruth (a dance teacher and homemaker) Bollea; married Linda Claridge, December 18, 1983; children: Brooke (a singer), Nicholas Allan (Nick). Education: Attended Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida.

Professional wrestler and actor. Worked as a dockworker, beginning 1976; bass guitarist, and played in the rock band Ruckus, 1970s; worked as a bodyguard for the singer Cyndi Lauper; professional wrestler, beginning 1978, using professional names Mr. America, Sterling Golden, Super Destroyer, Terry Boulder, and Terry "the Hulk" Boulder, before adopting the name Hulk Hogan and other similar names; affiliated with World Wrestling Federation (later known as World Wrestling Entertainment), beginning 1979, and later World Championship Wrestling and New World Order; also a member of the Wrestling Boot Band. Worked as a spokesperson, appeared in advertisements and on merchandise, and involved in the Hulkamania phenomenon. Also known as Terry Gene Bollea, Terry Hogan, the Incredible Hulk Hogan, and the Hulkster.
