Born January 25, 1930, in Los Angeles, CA; son of Samuel Maier and Esther (maiden name, Rosenthal) Axelrod. Education: University of California, Berkeley, A.A., 1950, B.A., 1956. Avocational Interests: Early fountain pens, four wall handball.

Career:

Actor and teacher. Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh, PA, actor, 1957-58; Cooper Milliken AIA, Old Town, ME, architectural designer, 1958-64; Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, artist in residence, 1973-74; University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, visiting director, 1976; assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA, 1977-78, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, 1979-81, and Boston University, Boston, MA, 1981-82; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, acting M.F.A. coordinator, 1982; California State University, Northridge, lecturer, 1986-90. Military service: U.S. Army, 1953-55, served as a corporal.
