The Frank Cormier Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to promising journalism students. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must be undergraduate journalism students at Phillip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. Criteria: Awards are given based on academic merit.

Funds Avail.: $24,000.

Remarks: Established in 1991, in 1994 it was named in honor of Frank Cormier, legendary White House correspondent for The Associated Press.

The Deborah Orin-Eilbeck Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to those studying journalism. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduate journalism students at Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism. Criteria: Awards are given based on academic merit.

Funds Avail.: $5,000 each. Number Awarded: 2.

Remarks: Awards established in honor of Deborah Orin-Eilbeck, the tenacious White House correspondent for The New York Post and Medill graduate who died of cancer in 2006.
