Special Message

Established in 1932, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is a private, regional university set on 300 acres along the banks of the Merrimack River in Manchester, New Hampshire. SNHU offers certificate and degree programs in business, community economic development, culinary arts, education, hospitality, and liberal arts, with degrees at the associate level through the doctoral level.

SNHU's Distance Education (DE) program offers undergraduate and graduate certificate and degree programs and is one of the largest and fastest-growing programs in New England. SNHU is a recognized leader in fully online asynchronous learning and Web-based education. Total distance education enrollments exceeded 10,000 for the 2003–04 academic year. DE classes normally are limited to 18 students, providing a significant measure of faculty-student interaction. Blackboard Learning System™ is the learning management software for all SNHU online courses.

The University offers six 8-week undergraduate and four 12-week graduate terms each year. The undergraduate residency requirement, which may be satisfied by taking distance education courses, is 30 semester hours (ten classes) through SNHU, including 12 credit hours in the area of study for the bachelor's or 9 credit hours in the area of study for the associate degree, through SNHU, to graduate. DE students are not required to come to campus. The final 24 semester hours must be taken through SNHU. The graduate program typically limits transfer credit to 6 semester hours.

SNHU is regionally and nationally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, the New England Postsecondary Education Commission, the New Hampshire State Department of Education for Teacher Certification, the American Culinary Federation Education Institute, and the North American Society for Sport Management.
