Anne-Marie Bonner Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students from the Caribbean/African community, who are pursuing post-secondary studies in Ontario universities/colleges. Focus: Art. Qualif.: Applicants must be in the first year of study in an arts or Caribbean studies program; must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants of Caribbean/African background; must be enrolled as full-time first-year students at an Ontario university/college or other postsecondary institution; must demonstrate remarkable academic performance or progress in high school; must demonstrate involvement and leadership in campus and/or community activities; must demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the criteria of the JCA Scholarship Selection Committee: (a) Demonstrated scholastic ability; (b) Applicant's response to the essay questions; (c) Involvement and leadership in community/campus activities; (d) Significant personal achievements beyond scholastic ability; (e) References; (f) Commitment to career goals.

Brown Dental Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students from the Caribbean/African community, who are pursuing post-secondary studies in Ontario universities/colleges. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants of Caribbean/African background; must be enrolled as full-time first-year students at an Ontario university/college or other postsecondary institution; must demonstrate remarkable academic performance or progress in high school; must demonstrate involvement and leadership in campus and/or community activities; must demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the criteria of the JCA Scholarship Selection Committee: (a) Demonstrated scholastic ability; (b) Applicant's response to the essay questions; (c) Involvement and leadership in community/campus activities; (d) Significant personal achievements beyond scholastic ability; (e) References; (f) Commitment to career goals. Preference will be given to a high school,

college or university student demonstrating exceptional aptitude in the health sciences, as well as a natural ability to draw, paint or sculpt.

Jamaica National Building Society Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students from the Caribbean/African community, who are pursuing post-secondary studies in Ontario universities/colleges. Focus: Business; Law; Science; Technology; Nursing. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant of Caribbean or African background; must be enrolled as a full-time first-year student at an Ontario university/college or other postsecondary institution; must demonstrate remarkable academic performance or progress in high school; must demonstrate involvement and leadership in campus and/or community activities; must demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the criteria of the JCA Scholarship Selection Committee: (a) Demonstrated scholastic ability; (b) Applicant's response to the essay questions; (c) Involvement and leadership in community/campus activities; (d) Significant personal achievements beyond scholastic ability; (e) References; (f) Commitment to career goals.

Dr. Ezra Nesbeth Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students from the Caribbean or African community, who are pursuing post-secondary studies in Ontario universities/colleges. Focus: Business; Technology; Computer and information sciences; Health sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be college or university students studying business, technology, computer science or health science; must have a high academic standing; must demonstrate leadership; must have completed at least one year of college or university in Canada; must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills; must have an involvement in extracurricular activities within the university, AfroCanadian community, or wider Canadian community; must have landed immigrant or Canadian citizenship; must not be receiving more than one other award of equal or greater value in the receiving year; must have a good understanding of the importance of economic self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship to the success of African Canadians in the Greater Toronto Area and elsewhere in Canada. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the criteria of the JCA Scholarship Selection Committee: (a) Demonstrate scholastic ability; (b) Applicant's response to the essay questions; (c) Involvement and leadership in community/campus activities; (d) Significant personal achievements beyond scholastic ability; which may include personal accomplishment; (e) References; (f) Commitment to career goals.

Eva Smith Bursary (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide support to African-Canadian youth who are pursuing a postsecondary education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant of Caribbean/African background; must be enrolled as a full-time first-year student at an Ontario university/college or other postsecondary institution; must demonstrate remarkable academic performance or progress in high school; must demonstrate involvement and leadership in campus and/or community activities; must demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection of applicants will be based on the criteria of the JCA Scholarship Selection Committee: (a) Demonstrated scholastic ability; (b) Applicant's response to the essay questions; (c) Involvement and leadership in community/campus activities; (d) Significant personal achievements beyond scholastic ability; (e) References; (f) Commitment to career goals.

Remarks: Bursary is named in honor of the late Eva Smith, a tireless community worker who dedicated her life to youth concerns, women's rights, immigration issues, education and community empowerment.
