Fellowships to Promote Research on the Legal Framework for Civil Society in Latin America, Africa and Asia (All/Fellowship)

Purpose: To provide opportunities to engage practitioners and scholars to advance the legal environment for civil society by providing them with the support and expertise of ICNL’s international staff; access to extensive library of NGO legal materials; and meetings with NGO representatives, academics and others in Washington, DC. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Applicants must be residents from Latin America (Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Venezuela), Africa (Angola, Burundi, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe) and Asia (Thailand, Vietnam). Criteria: Entries will be evaluated based on compliance with eligibility requirements and application procedures and on demonstrated interest and experience relating to the legal environment for civil society.

Internships in International Civil Society Law (Undergraduate/Internship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to develop projects that reflect student interests and skills and to assist with the student’s career development. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited law school. Good research, writing and analytical skills and foreign language is a plus eligibility. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on some criteria designed by the Selection Committee.

Spring Internship in International NGO Law (Undergraduate/Internship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students seeking a unique opportunity to be involved in the promotion of an enabling legal environment for civil society, freedom of association and public participation around the world. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Applicants must come from Washington, DC; must be enrolled in an accredited law school; must possess good research, writing and analytical skills; and must have demonstrable individual initiative and ability to work as part of a team. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on criteria designed by the Internship Selection Committee.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume and writing samples (not longer than 5 pages). Deadline: February 1.
