Phyllis P. Harris Scholarships (Postgraduate/A ward/Prize)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to a volunteer or individual to pursue studies in the general field of human sexuality, family planning or population. Focus: Human relations; Family planning; Population studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior at a Canadian university; must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant; must have a previous work or volunteer experience in the general field of human sexuality with the intent to pursue a degree in the field of family planning or population issues. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on the evaluation of the submitted essays. Scholarship winners will be selected by a review committee constituted by the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health.

Funds Avail.: $2,500-$3,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a recent academic transcript; a 500-word typewritten essay outlining their relevant background education, objective and plans for the future. John and Lois Lamont Graduate Scholarships (Postgraduate/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to medical students enrolled in full-time graduate studies in a Canadian University. Focus: Medical education. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who are graduates of any recognized university; possess an honour degree or its equivalent and intend to pursue a higher degree in the field of sexual and reproductive health. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on the evaluation of the candidate's essay. Scholarship winners will be selected by a review committee constituted by the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health.

Funds Avail.: $2,600. To Apply: Applicants must submit a typewritten essay of 500-700 words, outlining their education, background in sex and reproductive health and/or women's issues, aspiration, and plans to access abortion provider training as an elective; must include the curriculum vitae and a full list of publications; and must submit a letter of recommendation. Application and other documents must

Dr. Henry Morgentaler Future Choice Scholarships (Postgraduate/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to medical students to access abortion provider training as an elective. Focus: Family planning. Qualif.: Applicants must be their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of medical school at a recognized Canadian university; must have demonstrated a commitment to pro-choice and sex-positive sexual and reproductive health care and can demonstrate an intent to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights in Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the evidence of commitment to right-based pro-choice sexual/reproductive health care and in community-based pro-choice volunteer activities; based on the evaluation of the candidate's essay and demonstration of potential as a pro-choice champion in Canada. Scholarship winners will be selected by a review committee constituted by the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 5. To Apply: Applicants must submit a typewritten essay of 500-700 words, outlining their education, background in sex and reproductive health and/or women's issues, aspiration, and plans to access abortion provider training as an elective; must include the curriculum vitae and a full list of publications; and must submit a letter of recommendation.
