APALA Scholarship Program (Doctorate, Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to a student of Asian or Pacific background. Focus: Library and archival sciences; Information science and technology. Qualif.: Applicant must be of Asian/Pacific Islander heritage; must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada; must be admitted full-time or part-time into a master's degree or doctoral program in library or information science at a library school accredited by ALA. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the Scholarship Committee's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicant must submit a completed application form available at the website together with a resume; copy of acceptance letter to an ALA accredited library school or library graduate school transcript; two letters of recommendation; and one page essay on one of the following topics: Your vision of a librarian's role in the twenty-first century and what contributions can I make as an APA Librarian?
