steatorrhoea Excretion of faeces containing a large amount of fat, and generally foul‐smelling. May be due to lack of bile, lack of lipase in the digestive juices, or defective absorption of fat. Treatment is by feeding low‐fat diet. See also coeliac disease; sprue.
