rainwater-head
rainwater-head. Small cistern or tank of cast-iron, lead, etc., also called hopper-head, frequently ornamented, to collect rainwater from e.g. a gutter behind a parapet, before it is discharged to a rain-conductor. Elaborate cast-lead rainwater-heads are often of great significance on façades of buildings, especially of the C17 and C18.
