Dickenson, Christopher

Dickenson, Christopher (fl. 1528–d. 1540). English freemason. In 1528 he was appointed master-mason at Windsor Castle, Berks., on the death of Henry Redman. In 1531 he was master-bricklayer at Westminster (Whitehall) Palace, and in 1536 was in charge of the works at Hampton Court Palace. In 1539 he was appointed to work on the three castles at Deal, Sandown, and Walmer, Kent, all remarkable examples of Tudor military architecture.
