Culot, Maurice
Culot, Maurice (1939– ). Belgian architect and theorist. Opposed to wholesale redevelopment of European cities, he favoured the preservation of traditional urban structures. In 1969 he founded Archives d'Architecture Moderne in Brussels, a research and conservation centre specializing in architecture of C19 and C20. With Léon Krier he published several works, including studies of Rational architecture (1978) and Albert Speer (1985). He has been an important figure in forming archives on the architecture of several towns and architects, and was the leading light in the foundation of the Musée des Archives d'Architecture Moderne in Brussels (1984).
