psychotherapy
psychotherapy An imprecise term that may embrace a wide variety of psychological methods of treatment, group or individual, provided by specialist therapists for the treatment of mental and behavioural problems (usually non-psychotic). Psychotherapy may include directive therapies involving suggestion, such as hypnosis, as well as non-directive, behavioural, and psycho-dynamic therapies. Narrowly defined, it denotes psychoanalytic therapies, excluding full
