d NY, 1944). Amer. pianist and composer. Her performing career was cut short by her marriage in 1885, after which she concentrated on comp., but she resumed it in 1910 when her husband died. Toured Europe playing her own conc. Wrote numerous songs; Mass in E♭ (1891);
Gaelic Symphony (1896); vn. sonata (1896); pf. conc. (1899); pf. quintet (1908);
The Canticle of the Sun (1925);
Christ in the Universe (1931); pf. trio (1938); and opera
Cabildo (1932).
