cellulose
cellulose A straight-chain, insoluble
polysaccharide that is composed of
glucose molecules linked by beta-1, 4 glycosidic (see
GLYCOSIDE) bonds. It is the principal structural material of plants, and as such is the most abundant organic compound in the world. It has also been found in certain sea squirts.
