androecium A collection of stamens that form the male reproductive organs of a flowering plant. These may be borne together with the female reproductive organs (the gynoecium, comprising stigma, style, and ovary) within the same flower of an individual plant, in which case the plant is referred to as hermaphrodite; or they may be borne on the same individual but in different flowers, in which case the plant is termed monoecious; or they may be borne separately on different individuals, in which case the plant is termed dioecious.
