mast cells

mast cells Large amoeboid cells that are found in vertebrate connective tissue. They may be connected with the deposition of fat. In certain situations they produce histamine and serotonin, responsible for allergy symptoms. They also produce heparin, an anticoagulant, which may prevent fibrin from forming clots in the intercellular spaces.
