1. The variety of language in a POST-CREOLE CONTINUUM most different from the STANDARD or SUPERSTRATE language: for example, Jamaican Creole as opposed to standard English

2. The least prestigious variety of a language, such as Gutter Glasgow in Scotland and Brooklyn in New York City. See DIALECT.
