Nimrod

Nimrod a skilful hunter, from the name of the great-grandson of Noah, traditional founder of the Babylonian dynasty, described in Genesis as ‘a mighty hunter before the Lord’. The Hebrew name Nimrōd, literally ‘let us rebel’ or ‘we will rebel’, is probably a distortion of the name of the Mesopotamian war-god Ninurta, a mighty hunter and warrior.
