Crispin, St 3rd-century martyr, probably of Roman origin, who according to his legend preached in Gaul with his brother
Crispinian; they are said to have supported themselves by shoemaking, and became patron saints of cobblers, shoemakers, and leather-workers. Their feast day is 25 October.
St Crispin's day, 25 October, on which the Battle of Agincourt took place, is referred to by Henry V in Shakespeare's play.
