wave mechanics Version of
quantum mechanics developed (1926) by Austrian physicist Erwin
Schrödinger. It explains the behaviour of
electrons in terms of their wave properties. Although quickly superseded by a more complex formulation by English physicist Paul
Dirac, it is still widely used in calculations.
