Thompson, Emma

Thompson, Emma (1959– ) English actress and screenwriter. She was married (1989–95) to Kenneth Branagh, and acted in his film adaptations of Shakespeare's Henry V (1989) and Much Ado Nothing (1993). Thompson won an Academy Award for best actress in Howard's End (1991). She won a further Oscar for best screenplay for Sense and Sensibility (1995). Other films include Remains of the Day (1993) and Love Actually (2003).
