Pavlov, Ivan Petrovich
Pavlov, Ivan Petrovich (1849–1936) Russian neuro- physiologist. His early work centred on the
physiology and
neurology of digestion, for which he received the 1904 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine. Pavlov is best known for his studies of
conditioning of behaviour in dogs. His major works include
Conditioned Reflexes (1927).
