Ionians
Ionians In ancient Greece, inhabitants of Attica, Boeotia, and
Ionia. They spoke a dialect distinct from that of the
Dorians and Aeolians. The hostility between Ionians and Dorians, neither regarding the other as fully Greek, appears in the contest between Athens and Sparta in the
Peloponnesian Wars. The term is also applied to the inhabitants of Ionia alone.
