Florey, Sir Howard Walter
Florey, Sir Howard Walter ( Baron Florey of Adelaide) (1898–1968) British pathologist, b. Australia. He shared, with Alexander
Fleming and Ernst
Chain, the 1945 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for his part in the development of
penicillin. Florey isolated the antibacterial agent from the mould, making large-scale preparation of penicillin possible.
