Cukor, George

Cukor, George (1899–1983) US stage and film director, noted for his comedies and literary dramas. He extracted remarkable performances from his leading actresses, in film such as Camille (1936), The Women (1939), The Philadelphia Story (1940) and A Star is Born (1954). Cukor won an Academy Award for My Fair Lady (1961).
