Leake, treaty of, 1318. The negotiation at Leake, south of Nottingham, on 9 August was yet another round in the struggle to control Edward II. The king and his leading adversary, his cousin Thomas of Lancaster, agreed to a council and to unite their forces against the Scots. The disastrous campaign of 1319, with its abortive attack upon Berwick, reopened the wounds and led to renewed conflict. Lancaster was executed after his defeat at Boroughbridge in 1322.
