Leiviskä, Juha (1936– ). Finnish architect. His distinctive planar architecture, derived from some of the preoccupations of the De Stijl movement, reflects his lifelong fascination with the manipulation of light. Secular projects include Kuovola Town Hall (1964–8—in collaboration with Bertel Saarnio (1912–69)). However, he is best-known for his churches and parish-centres of Nakkila (1968–70), Myllymäki, Vantaa (1980–4), and Männistö, Kuopio (1986–92), all in Finland. The last, with its high luminous spaces, won him international acclaim. He also designed the German Embassy, Helsinki, Finland (1986–93).
