Psychophysical Research Laboratories

An organization founded in 1979 by James S. McDonnell at the Forrestal Research Center, Princeton, New Jersey. It was devoted to laboratory investigation of psi phenomena, extra-sensory perception, and psychokinesis. Under its director, Charles Honorton, it became known as the location of experiments using the Ganzfeld procedures, the subject of major controversy within parapsychology in the 1980s. The center closed in the late 1980s due to a lack of financial resources.
