Noricum

Date: 2008
Noricum , province of the Roman Empire. It corresponded roughly to modern Austria S of the Danube and W of Vienna. It was bordered on the west by Rhaetia and on the east by Pannonia. Noricum was incorporated into the Roman Empire in 16 BC It prospered for centuries, then declined and was overrun by German tribes in the 5th cent.
